Piasty Evanlite Straightpull 36T

EVANLITE HUBS - Details and specification

Introducing the new generation of Evanlite hubs for road and gravel wheels, featuring a 36T ratchet mechanism. Their low weight allows for building lighter carbon wheels, and the refined design ensures high precision and durability, as detailed below.

The new Evanlite hub model is currently offered at 120 eur less than the DT 350. You can select them for all road and gravel wheels when configuring your chosen model.

For example, the New Disc 45 model configured with Evanlite hubs and butted Sapim D-Light spokes weighs only 1360 grams and currently costs 999 EUR.

HUB TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

36T RATCHET

The rear hub uses a reliable 36-tooth ratchet mechanism, which is the optimal balance between durability and engagement points. Keep in mind that a higher tooth count can lead to faster mechanism wear over long-term use.
The ratchet consists of two rings that are not enclosed in the hub shell, making maintenance easier.

LOW WEIGHT

Thanks to a lightweight and well-designed hub shell, we achieved an exceptionally low weight – the hubset (front and rear) weighs only 290 grams.

Hubset comparison (real weight):
EVANLITE - 290 g
DT 240 EXP - 310 g
DT 350 - 370 g

TPI BEARINGS

In the new Evanlite hubs, we use high-quality steel bearings from the renowned TPI brand, known for their long lifespan. Their precise manufacturing ensures smooth rotation and minimal rolling resistance, directly translating to better riding performance.

The difference in rolling resistance between steel and ceramic bearings is about 2 watts per set. However, due to their design, ceramic bearings only work efficiently for 2000–5000 km. After this time, they begin to wear, leading to increased drag. Therefore, in the long run, high-quality steel bearings are the best choice for durability and performance.

BEARING SEALS

The bearings in Evanlite hubs are double-sealed – both externally and internally – effectively protecting them from dirt and extending their lifespan.

  • Protection is provided by snug-fitting hub end caps, which eliminate direct contact between the bearings, dirt, and moisture. Additionally, we use an LLB seal (double-lip labyrinth seal). This precise, low-friction rubber seal effectively protects the bearing from the inside against dirt and moisture. It is a dedicated solution for high-end hubs to avoid increasing rolling resistance.

COMPATIBILITY

The new Evanlite hubs are compatible with Shimano Road 11/12s, Microspline 12s, and SRAM XDR freehubs.
Various axle standards are available, including the most popular 12x100 and 12x142, as well as QR (with interchangeable end caps).

You can select the appropriate freehub and axle options in our configurator.

If you already own wheels built on popular DT hubs, it is worth noting that the end caps and freehubs from those hubs are compatible with the new Evanlite model. This provides a wide base of spare parts.

HUB RATCHET SOUND

Hubs using a ratchet mechanism are relatively loud. However, you can adjust the sound volume by changing the amount of grease in the mechanism – less grease makes the sound louder, while more grease effectively quiets the hub down.

Evanlite vs. DT Swiss Hubs

DT Swiss hubs are top-tier models that have stood out for decades for their excellent craftsmanship and reliable durability.

By introducing the new generation of Evanlite hubs, our goal is to provide a high-quality alternative among available hub models, maintaining high quality standards and low weight, while being "lighter" on the wallet.

The new Evanlite hubs are the perfect choice for riders looking for light and durable wheels built with quality components. This approach has been the foundation of our brand for years and remains our constant goal when designing every model.

The low weight of the new hubs allows us to build road and gravel wheelsets that, in their base spec, weigh around 1270 - 1430 grams (depending on the model). This is a great result, achieved without compromising wheel durability, while keeping an attractive price of 999 EUR (for a build with Evanlite hubs and Sapim D-Light spokes).

This is another step in our brand's development and the result of years of experience in designing and building carbon wheels. The new hub option allows us to create exceptionally attractive wheelsets that often technically exceed current standards in the wheel market.
